    From my own experience drivers feel a certain right to the road and their speed until you get them below 30. Whatever this high speed imperative is that our society and the economy seems to insist upon, we can’t put vulnerable road users into the same space without the lower speed limit, and that is just what NL has done.
    Driving in Melbourne traffic yesterday I despaired that all traffic could ever be slowed down but the Dutch compromise appears to work. Leave the motorways free but slow populated area traffic right down.
